Katherine Marie Kalaf Stiler (Styler) quietly passed away January 2, 2011 at age 54. She was surrounded by her wonderful and beautiful family and her endless array of devoted and loving friends, after an 11 year battle with breast cancer. She was a shooting star from heaven and everyone who knew her treasured her. Kate made everyone feel special.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Kalaf, of Ithaca, New York.
Kate was born and raised in Ithaca, NY. She was a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Business Communications. Among her many accomplishments was the creation of Styler Music in 1992. She was responsible for all aspects of Marshall's and her music business. Kate insisted on having Marshall's music played during her final hours.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Marshall, their two beautiful children, Nicholas, 21, and Alexandra, 18, both of whom she raised with joy, discipline and much laughter. She loved her stepson Miles Stiler and his family. She is also survived by her adoring brothers, Edward Kalaf (Kim) of Ithaca and William Kalaf of Charlotte, NC; many nieces, nephews, extended family and countless, cherished friends.
Marshall wishes to thank Kate's wonderful oncologist, Dr. Demetrius Loukas; his assistant, Mary Dickson and all of the amazing people at Hospice Austin's Christopher House and most especially, nurses Mary Jane and Martha for their tender homecare.

Kate's memorial service
A memorial was held at Bethany Lutheran Church on January 7th, with the family receiving friends at Austin's Inn at Pearl Street immediately following the service.
